Bud & Alley’s Pizza Bar Raises $1K for Charity
Bud & Alley's Pizza BarOn Oct. 1, Bud & Alley’s Pizza Bar saluted the end of summer with a special charity wine dinner called Summer’s End Harvest. The sold out event raised $1,000 for Food for Thought, a partnership whose mission is to end childhood hunger in Northwest Florida. Chef Phil McDonald and Joe Messina of Stacole Fine Wines partnered to create a gourmet five-course harvest-inspired wine pairing dinner. The sold out wine dinner welcomed 40 food lovers who gathered on the terrace on a beautiful fall evening to savor a specially prepared menu of turnips, warm seafood panzanella, orecciette, Berkshire pork shank, and a sweet ending of apple tart & hazelnut frangipane served with olive oil ice cream.

30A Charity Golf Classic Raises $23,000 For Food For Thought
The 2015 30A Charity Golf Classic raised about $23,000 for Food For Thought, a local non-profit providing food for kids in need in Walton and Okaloosa County. The third annual event, presented by The Aesthetic Clinique, was once again held at the beautiful Santa Rosa Golf & Beach Club on Oct. 10. The fun and playful tournament offers plenty of interesting challenges for golfers. Players could tee off on one of 30A Gear's silicone shot glasses to compete for longest drive, ask five-time Ladies Professional Golf Association champion Sophie Gustafson to take a shot for them, or pay off Carl from Caddyshack (otherwise known as Brook Stetler of The Rep Theater) to NOT take a swing at their ball. The four-person team of Jonathan Mitchell, Jordan Mitchell, Hayes Gibson and Bill Roxby took home the grand prize.

Destin Commons Commits to Trustee Membership at Destin Area Chamber
Destin CommonsDestin Commons was recently recognized as a high level Trustee member of the Destin Area Chamber of Commerce. The area’s prestigious outdoor lifestyle center is one of only five Trustee members, joining Emerald Coast Convention & Visitors BureauFort Walton Beach Medical Center,Trustmark National Bank, and Warren Averett

Over the years, award-winning Destin Commons has contributed over $40,000 and the use of the Center on many occasions for the Destin Chamber. Destin Commons’ general manager, Bob Perry currently serves on the Chamber Board as a Vice Chair of Membership Development.  Marketing manager, Heather Pike actively serves on several committees and is a 2015 graduate of the Chamber’s Destin Forward program, and marketing coordinator Michelle Sanchez is currently an active member of the 2016 class. Destin Forward is a program designed to provide a hands-on learning experience into the many facets of the Destin community and provide professional development for future leaders.

Emerald Coast Parrot Head Club Helps Children in Crisis

Bud & Alley’s Waterfront Restaurant Rocks Two Recent Cocktail Events
Children In CrisisBud & Alley’s Waterfront Restaurant is raising a glass to its recent success. In one month, South Walton’s longest established restaurant has garnered both local and national attention at two cocktail events. On Sept. 19, it competed against 14 Northwest Florida-based restaurants and bars at the Market Shops Bloody Mary Festival and came out a two-time winner, earning the First Place Judge’s Award and Second Place for the People’s Choice Award. One week later, at the invitation of Coastal Living magazine, Bud & Alley’s played host to the illustrious magazine’s first ever National Happy Hour Day event, Toast on the Coast. Selected by Coastal Living magazine as one of 10 "favorite seaside restaurant bars" across the nation to simultaneously celebrate National Happy Hour Day in every time zone, Bud & Alley’s award-winning bartenders served its version the brooding rum-based cocktail Dark & Stormy on its rooftop deck bar as the sun set on Sept. 24. Other participating cities were Boston; Seattle; Charleston; Manhattan Beach, Calif.; Montauk, N.Y.; Savannah, Ga.; Palm Beach, Fla.; and Birmingham, Ala.

Celebrate Splash or Treat at GulfScarium
Splash or Treat at GulfScarium will take place on Halloween day, Oct. 31, from 9 a.m. - 3:30 p.m. Children 12 and under in costume get free admission into Gulfarium Marine Adventure Park, limit 2 free kids per adult. Adults and additional kids pay regular admission, not to be combined with any other discount/coupon. Event activities include a submarine fun house, Hallow-Green kids crafts, the Skeleton Scavenger Hunt, and a bounce house! New this year, world-renown magician Bart Rocket will perform ventriloquism and magic acts.  

17th Annual Pin Fish Classic
The City of Destin will host its 17th Annual Pinfish Classic on Saturday, Nov. 7, from 8:30 – 10 a.m., at the weigh-in on Destin Harbor, behind AJ’s Seafood & Oyster Bar. This catch and release event is open to children ages 14 and under. Participants must bring their own poles – bait is provided. Registration must be completed on location by 8:30 a.m. Awards will be presented at 9:45 a.m. Awards include the largest and smallest pinfish catches in each age group, as well as an award for the most pinfish caught overall. Duck Regatta Raises Community Support for Sacred Heart Hospital
The Fifth Annual Duck Regatta once again made a huge splash during the family-fun event at Baytowne Wharf at Sandestin on Saturday, Oct. 10. Approximately 3,000 ducks raced across the Lagoon toward the finish line. The $5,000 lucky duck was adopted by Tiffany Klein. As the rest of the flock made it across the finish line, nine duck “adopters” won prizes, including a paddle board, airline tickets, iPads, and dinner packages. The popular community event raised more than $34,000 to benefit the Sacred Heart Hospital on the Emerald Coast. 36th Annual Toys 4 Tots Run for Motorcycles
The Emerald Coast Harley Owner’s Group (HOG) Chapter #3605, sponsored by Emerald Coast Harley Davidson, will be doing its 36th Annual Toys 4 Tots Run on Sunday, Nov. 15. Proceeds will benefit the Emerald Coast Children’s Advocacy Center and Children in Crisis. Last year, the successful operation collected more than 1,000 toys and raised over $15,000 to benefit the two organizations. All motorcycles are welcome to participate in the Run. Entry fee is $10 per participant and a new toy or gift card. Registration starts at 8:30 a.m. at Sam’s Club parking lot in Ft. Walton Beach. The motorcycle bike parade starts at 11 a.m. from Sam’s Club and ends at the Niceville Mullet Festival site. Parade and festivities will include music, food, hi-lo games, motorcycle contests, and more.
